Day 39

“Isn’t this the fast I choose: To break the chains of wickedness, to untie the ropes of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to tear off every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your house, to clothe the naked when you see him, and not to ignore your own flesh and blood?  Then your light will appear like the dawn, and your recovery will come quickly. Your righteousness will go before you, and the LORD’s glory will be your rear guard.”

Isaiah 58:6-8

Prayer:
Father, would you speak to my heart. Is there anything you want me to give up for a period of time (part of a day, a day, a few days). God, give me a desire to pray, to seek you and to seek your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  • Take a few minutes and ask God to speak to your heart about fasting. Is there an activity (such as social media, a hobby, or media in general) or a food that God wants you to refrain from eating/doing over the next 3 days.
  • Ask God to help you be obedient to what He is leading you to do over the next 3 days of our church-wide time of prayer and fasting.

Note:
Fasting is not simply removing something from our life for a period of time. Fasting is removing something in our life to seek God more diligently and to pray more fervently.
